Barbara Nunnery, a long- time resident of Edgemoor, S.C., passed away on February 9, 2018 at the age of
86. Born to Elizabeth and Lester Galbraith in Liberty, S.C., Barbara attended Furman College and then
Winthrop College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music. While at Winthrop she met her
husband Sidney to whom she was married for 64 years. Upon graduation, she taught band at Holly Hill
High School in Holly Hill, SC and then later became a kindergarten teacher in Camden, SC where she and
Sidney raised two daughters. After retirement Barbara and Sidney moved to Sidney's hometown of
Edgemoor where they shared a passion for farm life. Barbara enjoyed cooking and canning homegrown
vegetables and fruits which she loved to share with family and friends. She was an avid craft maker and
enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren with endless craft projects. She also enjoyed researching her and
Sidney's family genealogy and created a large collection of photos and interesting historical information.
She was devoted to her community and church and spent many hours doing volunteer service wherever
there was a need.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Sidney. She is also survived by her children, Becky Clark (Ron) and
Lynn Lienert (Greg); grandchildren, Josh Clark (Jackie), Matthew Clark, Seth Clark (Hillary), and Hannah
Younce (Mark); great-grandchildren, Charley Clark, Rhett Clark, and Leia Younce; and brother, Jim
Galbraith (Joyce).
A special thank you to the caregivers and staff at Harbor Chase of Rock Hill Memory Care for the devoted
kindness, care, and love they provided Barbara and her family.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service for Barbara at Edgemoor ARP Church in
Edgemoor, SC on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later time.
